Our ORGANIC REISHI capsules contain organic reishi mushroom extract with more than 30% polysaccharides. We\u2019ve also included acerola extract.<\/p>\n

We use concentrated mushroom extract instead of mushroom powder to create a simple, refined formula with polysaccharides.<\/p>\n

    Some mushroom powders are made from mycelium instead of fruiting bodies, and they may also include the grain the mycelium grows on. We use fruiting bodies instead.<\/p>\n

    How is our organic mushroom extract made? Careful harvesting and gentle processing.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    To help preserve important polysaccharides, mushrooms are dried differently depending on the species and their condition after harvest. Some are sun-dried, while more delicate mushrooms are dried in traditional systems. The wood used in cultivation is burned as fuel, and the ash is reused as fertilizer. Reusing nearly all materials was an important sustainability goal.<\/p>\n

    After drying, the mushroom fruiting bodies are finely ground. Depending on the mushroom type, the grinding process may take one or more steps to reach the desired fineness.<\/p>\n

    The extraction process<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The very fine powder is made using a shell-breaking process that helps break down the mushroom cell walls. After processing, the powder is smaller than 0.125 mm for a very fine, consistent texture.<\/p>\n

    Finely milled mushrooms can make their compounds easier for the body to absorb than coarse powder. For example, crushed medicinal mushrooms are often better for tea. Hot-water extraction helps release key mushroom compounds, and filtration and centrifugation remove fibers and other water-insoluble material. Depending on the mushroom species, about 6\u201320 kg of extract remains from 100 kg of dried mushrooms.<\/p>\n

    Mushroom powders used as extract bases also contain polysaccharides, but the amounts and absorbability are generally lower than in extracts. Mushroom powders for tea are valued for their full composition and natural nutrients.<\/p>\n

    These extracts are selected for their high polysaccharide content.<\/strong> During extraction, polysaccharides are released from mushroom cell walls and become easier to use in finished products. Beta-D-glucans are one of the better-known polysaccharides and are the focus of many studies.<\/p>\n

    Learn More About the Reishi (Lingzhi) Mushroom<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    Reishi has been one of the best-known mushrooms in Eastern herbal traditions for nearly 2,000 years. It is known for its kidney-shaped cap and shiny reddish-brown color. Ganoderma lucidum.<\/em> It typically grows on rotting hardwood trees in temperate forests throughout Asia, Europe, South America, and the United States.<\/p>\n

    Reishi has a long history in traditional Asian medicine. Today, researchers are still studying its properties and potential uses.<\/p>\n

    Written references to reishi date back more than 2,400 years.<\/strong> and are often depicted in ancient Chinese and Japanese artworks. The mushroom was probably used medicinally for over 4000 years across the Eastern hemisphere, including Korean and Indian cultures.<\/p>\n

    In traditional Chinese herbal practice, reishi was called Lingzhi and was prized as a rare, highly regarded mushroom. It was historically reserved for nobility in ancient China.<\/p>\n
