Its work has earned local recognition, including the Nivo Award in 2004, the Miskolc Diamonds Award in 2008, and Organization of the Year in 2016 from MATSZ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2016, more than 12,000 people supported the shelter through its tax donation program. After electronic tax returns were introduced in 2017, the organization saw a drop in revenue. The foundation does not run national media advertising campaigns. Supporters often get involved through volunteering, events, outreach programs, or adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Their main responsibilities include:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Operating an animal shelter that takes in stray and homeless animals, provides healthcare, spay\/neuter services, vaccinations, and care until they find new homes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Running an animal rescue that cares for injured stray animals in Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen County and nearby areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting better animal care through school programs and community events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s why MASA matters to so many people:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They care for 300 dogs and cats every day. Ten employees and 10\u201320 regular volunteers help with daily animal care. Since they began, they&#8217;ve helped 15,000 dogs find new homes.
